| KREISEROK - ALEXANDER VON BUNGE EXPEDITION 1889.: Collection of 22 original albumen photos depicting the wreck of the Russian battleship Kreiserok. 1 photo depicts Kreiserok in the harbour of Nagasaki. 1 photo depicts the crew of the Alexander von Bunge's expedition. 16 photos depict the wreck on the coast and the surroundings. All 17x12 cm. - 4 photos depict members of Kreiserok's crew. All 7,5x10 cm. All photos mounted on board - some with a Danish handwritten text made in pencil by the Danish member of the crew Ltd. | Alexander von Bunge, 1851 - 1930, doctor and polar explorer, was nominated as leader of the expedition to find the Russian Battleship Kreiserok which was wrecked in the northern Sea of Japan 1889. A as member of the crew was the Danish Ltd. C.M.T. Cold who served the Russian Navy. None of Kreiserok's crew survived. |
